EMDR with Candace

EMDR Consultation, Education, and Professional Support for Therapists

EMDR work can be powerful and it can also be complex. Many therapists reach a point where they know the protocol but feel uncertain about pacing, readiness, dissociation, or how attachment dynamics are shaping the work in front of them.

EMDR with Candace was created to offer thoughtful, ethical, and relationally grounded consultation for clinicians who want to practice EMDR with confidence, care, and clinical integrity.

This space is clinician to clinician. It is not therapy and it is not about doing EMDR perfectly. It is about deepening your clinical judgment and knowing you do not have to hold trauma work alone.

Who This Space Is For

EMDR with Candace supports:

  • EMDR-trained therapists seeking consultation or credentialing hours
  • Trauma therapists integrating EMDR into complex cases
  • Clinicians navigating dissociation, attachment injuries, and developmental trauma
  • Therapists in training who want reflective, supportive guidance
  • Licensed professionals experiencing doubt, burnout, or over-responsibility in trauma work

If you are thoughtful about your work and sometimes unsure if you are doing enough or too much, consultation is not a sign of weakness. It is a sign of ethical practice.

Dr. Candace Hamilton - EMDR Consultant

About Candace

I am Dr. Candace Hamilton, PsyD, a trauma therapist, EMDR Consultant, and the Owner and Clinical Director of The Integrative Trauma and PTSD Recovery Centre.

My clinical and consultation work is informed by relational science, attachment based therapy, the Adaptive Information Processing model, and transpersonal psychology, with a strong focus on complex trauma, relational trauma, sexual trauma and developmental trauma. I work from a relational lens, understanding that effective trauma therapy is not only about technique, but about attunement, pacing, and the therapeutic relationship.

In consultation, I focus less on rigid protocols and more on supporting therapists to think critically about readiness, safety, and clinical decision making. I help clinicians refine their pacing in EMDR, particularly when working with dissociation, early attachment wounds, and complex trauma presentations. I believe effective EMDR work requires both structure and flexibility.

My goal is to help therapists strengthen their clinical confidence, trust their instincts, and deepen their understanding of when to slow down, pause, when to move into deeper processing, and when EMDR may not be the most appropriate intervention in a given moment.

EMDR Consultation Services

Individual EMDR Consultation

Individual consultation offers space to think collaboratively about your work without judgment or pressure. Sessions may include:

  • Case conceptualization without identifying client details
  • Readiness assessment and resourcing considerations
  • Navigating dissociation, parts, and attachment dynamics
  • Ethical questions and scope of practice concerns
  • Support toward EMDR certification or consultation hours

Consultation is reflective and collaborative, not corrective.

Rate:  $250 per hour

Group EMDR Consultation

Group consultation provides connection with other clinicians who are navigating similar clinical questions. Groups are structured, supportive, and grounded in mutual respect. Many therapists find group consultation helps normalize uncertainty and reduce isolation in trauma work.

Groups of up to four participants meet on Fridays from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM to discuss cases, techniques, and best practices in a supportive environment.

Rate: $150 per person

Pathways to Consultation

You can work with me under several consultation pathways, depending on your professional goals and needs:

1. EMDRIA Certification Support

For clinicians who are working toward becoming an EMDRIA Certified EMDR Therapist. I provide consultation to support the completion of required consultation hours, clinical case conceptualization, fidelity to the Adaptive Information Processing model, and readiness for certification.

EMDRIA Certification requirements include consultation hours, EMDR experience hours, and approved training.

Check Full Requirements Here

2. EMDRIA Consultant in Training Support

For clinicians who are pursuing the EMDRIA Approved Consultant designation. I support clinicians in acquiring the required consultation hours, deepening advanced clinical reasoning, refining consultation skills, and preparing for the consultant role.

EMDRIA Consultant requirements, including consultation hours and eligibility criteria, are outlined here:

3. Ongoing EMDR and Trauma Focused Clinical Consultation

For clinicians who are not currently pursuing EMDRIA certification or consultant status, but who value ongoing consultation as part of ethical and reflective clinical practice. This pathway supports case consultation, complex and developmental trauma presentations, dissociation, pacing decisions, and clinical judgment within EMDR informed and trauma focused work.

This option is well suited for clinicians who want consistent support, space for clinical reflection, and guidance in working with complex cases without a certification requirement.

Upcoming Trainings & Workshops for therapists

Treating Complex PTSD with EMDR requires more than standard target selection. This live, virtual training is designed for licensed clinicians who are working with layered trauma histories, dissociation, and younger parts. We will focus on memory clustering, advanced case conceptualization, stabilization, and sequencing to support safer and more effective EMDR processing. The training blends clinical teaching with guided practicum to help you confidently integrate these strategies into your work with Complex PTSD.

If you are looking to deepen your EMDR skills with complex trauma presentations, I invite you to learn more about this February 2026 training and see if it aligns with your clinical work.

The Integrative Trauma & PTSD Recovery Centre

The Integrative Trauma & PTSD Recovery Centre is where my clinical work and consultation lens are rooted. As Owner and Clinical Director, I lead a trauma-focused practice dedicated to the treatment of complex PTSD, relational trauma, and attachment wounds in adults. Our work is grounded in EMDR, attachment-focused approaches, and a deep respect for pacing, safety, and the realities of long-term trauma recovery.

The clinical depth and patterns I encounter in this setting directly inform how I support therapists through EMDR consultation, training, and professional education.

EMDR Education & Trauma-Informed Insights

The EMDR with Candace blog is a shared learning space for individuals seeking to understand EMDR therapy and for therapists navigating the complexities of trauma work. For clients and the general public, the blog offers clear, accessible education about EMDR, trauma recovery, and what healing can realistically look like over time. For clinicians, it explores the lived realities of trauma therapy, including readiness, pacing, attachment dynamics, and the questions that often arise beyond formal training.

Across both audiences, the focus remains the same: thoughtful, trauma-informed education that respects the depth of the work and the people engaging in it.

Clinical Focus Areas

My consultation work commonly supports therapists working with:

  • Childhood trauma and developmental trauma
  • Complex PTSD
  • Dissociation and parts work
  • Intimate partner violence and relational abuse
  • Narcissistic abuse and betrayal trauma
  • Sexual trauma
  • People-pleasing and attachment wounds
  • Intergenerational trauma

These cases often require slower pacing and thoughtful integration. Consultation helps clarify what the client needs and what the therapist needs to stay grounded in the work.

Professional Training and Approach

My clinical and consultation background includes training in:

  • EMDR as an EMDR Consultant
  • Attachment-Focused Trauma Therapy for Adults (AFTT-A)
  • Flash EMDR Protocol
  • Attachment and dissociation assessment and treatment
  • Cognitive Processing Therapy
  • Prolonged Exposure
  • Internal Family Systems

In consultation, I integrate these frameworks while staying grounded in ethical decision-making and therapist sustainability.

Why Consultation Matters

Trauma therapists often hold themselves to unrealistic standards. Consultation creates space to:

  • Slow down and think clearly
  • Reduce over-functioning and self-doubt
  • Strengthen clinical confidence
  • Protect against burnout and secondary trauma
  • Practice ethically and responsibly

Consultation is not about having all the answers. It is about developing the capacity to hold complexity with support.
