At The Integrative Trauma and PTSD Recovery Centre, we understand that trauma can touch every aspect of life. We are a dedicated team of therapists specializing in treating trauma and PTSD in adults, children, and families. Whether you have experienced a single life-altering event, the ongoing effects of complex PTSD, the wounds of relational trauma, or are an adult survivor of childhood trauma or sexual abuse, we are here to support you on your journey towards healing.

Single Incident Trauma

We understand how car accidents, assaults, natural disasters, or other traumatic events can impact your life. Our therapists can help you process these experiences, manage emotional triggers, and rebuild a sense of safety and security.

Complex PTSD

Complex PTSD often arises from repeated or prolonged exposure to traumatic experiences. We offer specialized therapy approaches to address the unique challenges associated with complex PTSD, such as emotional dysregulation, dissociation, and difficulties with relationships.

Relational Trauma

Relationships can be a source of strength, but also of deep pain. We can help you heal from betrayal, infidelity, intimate partner violence, emotional abuse, or other forms of relational trauma.

Adult Survivors of Childhood Trauma

Childhood experiences have a profound impact on our well-being. Our therapists are experienced in helping adults understand the lasting effects of childhood trauma and develop coping mechanisms to overcome these challenges.

Sexual Trauma

Sexual assault and abuse are devastating experiences. We offer a safe and supportive space for survivors to process their trauma, manage triggers, and reclaim a sense of power and control over their lives.

I am deeply connected to my work because, through my own life experiences, I have learned that love and healthy supportive relationships are essential and healing for us as humans. Trauma can disconnect us from these core aspects of our humanity, making us want to isolate ourselves and become mistrustful and fearful of forming new relationships. It can also lead to a disconnection from self-care and managing our emotional boundaries.

Specializing in relational trauma and helping adults who experienced childhood trauma is a natural choice for me. I understand the profound impact that early trauma can have on an individual’s ability to form and maintain healthy relationships. I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of healing through connection, love, trust, and compassionate support. My personal journey has reinforced my belief in the resilience of the human spirit and the potential for recovery and growth.

There are many reasons why I love what I do, many of which began at a young age. As a South Asian man, I am well aware of the stigma that exists around being vulnerable about our mental health. It can be difficult to advocate for mental health support, whether for ourselves or someone else, and this stigma and lack of awareness often prevent us from seeking the support we need. I take pride in working with those who want to heal from their past trauma and speak out about their mental health concerns.

Working with trauma and PTSD is a critical part of my vision because these experiences profoundly impact an individual’s well-being and relationships. Addressing trauma is essential for healing and personal growth, involving creating a safe, supportive environment. By focusing on trauma, I aim to help individuals break free from cycles of pain and isolation, fostering resilience and empowerment. While it can be uncomfortable, I strive to create a space where we can embrace and welcome that discomfort. I want to normalize speaking about our mental health, fostering a narrative of non-judgment, transparency, and vulnerability.

I am often asked why I choose to work with children, youth, and families. As a social worker, I understand how difficult it can be for families to navigate the system and get the support they need for their child, especially when the child or youth has experienced trauma. Children and youth often blame themselves for the traumatic experience, resulting in guilt or shame. Parents might notice changes in their child, such as isolation, losing interest in hobbies and sports, or exhibiting aggressive behavior at home.

When handling these issues, I use an attachment-focused approach. This involves involving the child’s parents or caregivers in therapy to help transfer skills learned in therapy to everyday life. It also gives the child a significant voice in their therapy sessions. Working as a team for the child’s betterment creates a safe space for children, youth, and families to heal.
